Platforms before requirements
Contracts get signed before needs are fully defined. Scope expands during implementation. Budget follows.

Book a Scoping Session Independent systems architecture
Growing professional services firms invest in technology every day without the architecture to support it. We change that equation before the contract is signed.
The problem / 01
The implementation isn't where most technology investments go wrong. The mistake happens earlier, when organizations commit to a platform before they've defined what they actually need.
Glenn-Walker Systems Consulting exists at that moment. We do the architecture work that should always happen first so when you do invest, it works.
“We design the plan before you buy the platform.”

Contracts get signed before needs are fully defined. Scope expands during implementation. Budget follows.
Existing processes get automated as-is, including the inefficiencies. The new system runs the old problems faster.
AI amplifies what's already there. Messy data produces messy answers at scale. Governance gaps become governance failures.
Systems don't talk to each other. Manual workarounds multiply. The single source of truth remains theoretical.
What we deliver / 02
Every engagement produces a complete, documented deliverable package of structured architecture work you can act on. Each stands alone and feeds naturally into the next.
A structured diagnostic of your operations, workflows, and technology that produces a written findings report and a clear, prioritized path forward.
A disciplined decision framework that produces the requirements, evaluation criteria, and vendor documentation your firm needs before committing to an implementation.
A structural evaluation of whether your data, workflows, and governance are ready to absorb AI or automation — delivered as a written readiness verdict with a sequenced path forward.
A complete architecture plan that sequences every technology decision, investment, and operational change your firm needs to make over the next three to five years.
Not sure where to start?
If you know something needs to change but you're not sure which engagement is the right starting point, the Engagement Scoping Session is designed for exactly that situation. It's a structured 2.5-hour working session that produces a written recommendation. Not a sales conversation, not a proposal. You leave with a clear picture of where your operational gaps are and which engagement makes sense as a next step.
The fee is credited in full toward any Glenn-Walker Systems Consulting engagement started within 30 days.
If you move forward, the session costs you nothing. If you don't, you still leave with a structured written assessment. How it works / 03

We map your current systems, workflows, and operational reality through stakeholder interviews and direct observation. No assumptions. No guesswork.
Gap analysis, maturity assessment, and technology landscape evaluation define the distance between where you are and where you need to be.
Future-state architecture, requirements, and vendor selection criteria are built before any vendor conversation starts.
A complete, documented deliverable package you can execute against, hand to an implementation partner, or present to a board.

17Years Inside the WorkAbout Glenn-Walker / 04
Glenn-Walker Systems Consulting was founded by Jessica Walker, whose experience spans engineering, engineering systems, and technology delivery.
That experience shaped a practical perspective: organizations are not simply collections of software and processes. They are interconnected systems of people, workflows, information, applications, decisions, and constraints. When those relationships are not understood, technology decisions can solve the wrong problem or introduce complexity that was never anticipated.
Glenn-Walker Systems Consulting brings an engineering-informed systems perspective to those decisions. We examine how the organization actually operates, make the relationships and dependencies visible, and translate that understanding into a practical architecture for what should change and why.
Our work sits upstream of implementation. We do not sell software or represent a platform. We help organizations understand the system before they commit to changing it.
About the practiceIf you're evaluating a platform, planning a modernization, or trying to understand whether your organization is ready for AI, the right time to talk is before the vendor conversation starts.
